The proposed project will enhance Benin’s core capacity to implement MEAs and by extension SDGs. It will  provide a common platform for the synergistic management of environmental information and coordination of MEA implementation, thereby supporting the achievement of global environmental benefits.

 

The project will establish  a coordinated environmental  knowledge and information  management system and enhance  institutional and technical capacities to develop, and utilize policies for effective implementation of the Rio Conventions, other MEAs and relevant SDGs.

 

The project is in line with the comparative advantage of UN Environment and its  Programme of Work , particularly sub-programme 7 on  Environment Under Review. The project will build upon existing national and global information systems and platforms such as UNEP Live.

January 2018 – December 2020
