Project Description

Project objective is to increase the transparency, accountability and impact of several hundred commodity production companies’ commitments to sustainable, low- and zero-deforestation production on behalf of government, NGO and other stakeholders who require this information in order to keep both a spotlight and pressure on companies’ efforts to reduce their impacts on forests with the specific intent of protecting forests and protecting the globally significant biodiversity that depends on those forests.

The lack of transparency and accountability, at the company level and at the country, jurisdictional and producer levels, is exactly the challenge that Supply Change seeks to address and reverse through this project. Under this project, the partner will acquire new data tracking and analytical capabilities to fulfill the specific outcomes: Increased transparency and awareness about, effective tracking and accountability for, and visibility and pressure on the companies making sustainability commitments to low- or zero-deforestation, including the impacts and results of those commitments on the protection of forests and on the globally significant forest-dependent biodiversity.
